Image-based sexual violence is the act or threat of sharing intimate or explicit images without consent.
This technology-facilitated gender-based violence seeks to humiliate and degrade, and causes devastating and far-reaching harm to individuals, families, and communities. AI-generated explicit and nonconsensual content—known as deepfake abuse—is the latest form of image-based sexual violence. All women and girls are at increasing risk of this AI-fueled online violence.
Urgent action is needed to accelerate the global response to image-based sexual violence and deepfake abuse. The Reclaim Coalition to End Online Image-based Sexual Violence, powered by Panorama Global, convened a global network of survivors and civil society to harness the growing momentum and build awareness, advance justice, and drive survivor-informed solutions.
The Reclaim Coalition at MozFest 2024: On June 12, Panorama Global moderated a panel of survivors and activists dedicated to combating this gender-based violence.
