The T1D Community Fund Deepens Support for Community-Based Organizations with $1.3 Million Investment Across 22 Countries

The Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Community Fund invests in the power of local communities to improve the lives of people living with T1D in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

SEATTLE, April 15, 2025— Today Panorama Global announced US $1.3 million for 26 community-based organizations throughThe Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Community Fund. With this support, grant recipients across 22 countries will continue providing essential services including direct patient care, advocacy for improved health policies, and education programs in their communities.

Type 1 diabetes is rising among children and young adults at an alarming rate, straining health systems and threatening lives. In LMICs, limited access to insulin, monitoring supplies, and specialized healthcare creates life-threatening conditions for millions. Community-based organizations play a key role in closing care gaps by ensuring access to high-quality medical, social, economic, and emotional support—yet are often not included in national or global type 1 diabetes planning.

Established in 2022 with seed funding from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, The T1D Community Fund provides a platform for organizations to connect and learn from one another, including by supporting travel to key global events where grassroots leaders can shape policy at the highest levels. By centering the perspectives of community-based organizations, The T1D Community Fund aims to advance more comprehensive, inclusive, and person-centered health systems.
